Do I need HTTPS?

Should my site have an SSL Certificate?

As it always has been, if your site processes credit cards or has logins, your site should be on SSL.  Enagic distributors with their EWS websites do not process credit cards nor do they have logins directly on their websites, so the answer is NO - you do not need HTTPS.

That being said, Google has used their monopoly to PUSH all websites toward HTTPS regardless of whether or not it actually needs it. They did this by putting "not secure" notice in the address bar of Google Chrome browser, and as is usual in the industry, other vendors followed suit.

They did this without educating the public on it, helping them to understand its NOT that important if all you are doing is reading a website or watching videos, they knew very well that most people would be fearful of it, forcing website owners into an extra expense and hassle of maintaining HTTPS on their websites.

To add insult to injury, they also started de-ranking websites that do not have HTTPS, both directly and indirectly. If your website lacks HTTPS they penalize you a small sum, but they also detect whats called "Bounce Rate", which is when a person visits your website and immediately leaves it. You get rank penalized even further if your Bounce Rate is high! Studies show the "not secure" flag they put in browsers causes many people to back out of the site immediately. The visitors just don't understand how unimportant it is, or when it may be important as well.

In conclusion, do you NEED HTTPS? No. Will you want it as an entrepreneur who wants the most out of their website? Yes. So we all just have to accept the fact that Google forced us into this and the extra expense of it, which can be hundreds to thousands of dollars per year and a lot of hassle renewing/installing them.

With EWS, we made it crazy easy and NO cost PER certificate. Simply upgrade your plan to Distributor or Leader and get full access to HTTPS for all your website addresses!
